The Event

"We completed our 5K run at Bug Hunter Waters on Saturday 9th August 2025 - it was exhausting but very rewarding. In the end, we finished in 40:29, however being new to this, we did have a quick chat with someone between crossing the finish line and picking up our token!

The ground was nice and flat, and only a couple of trip hazards to avoid, which is a significant improvement from when we were training in Saint Neots. Something else that helped was that everyone was going in the same direction!

We'd both like to thank everyone who has supported us at the event, with donations, and everyone who gave us space as we ran round the paths in Saint Neots (near the Willow Bridge)

If anyone still wants to donate, the just giving page will remain open for some time yet." - Steve

Background

"Now, I am not a runner at all, however I am a great fan of challenges, my son, Yon suggested that I should train for a 5K run. Our friends at the BRJ Run and Tri club in Huntingdon have nominated Guide Dogs as their chairty of the year, and in order to support them, I have taken up the challenge.

As I am completely blind, I am running with my husband, Steve, (who is as much of a runner as I am). We use a short tether, and we run at a compromise pace as we have significantly different strides.

We will be running on Saturday the 9th August with the BRJ Run and Tri core team at Bug Hunters Waters near Northstowe" - Martine
